Anthropic brings Claude Cowork to its Chrome extension, adding skills and plugins to the browser Maximilian Schreiner View the LinkedIn Profile of Maximilian Schreiner Aug 13, 2026 Claude Cowork now runs directly in the side panel of Anthropic's Chrome extension. The extension already existed. It reads the page you're logged into, clicks, types, and fills out forms. Until now, that meant browsing and gathering information. What's new is that a full Claude Cowork session runs right inside the panel. That means skills, plugins, and connectors now work in the browser for the first time, with no extra setup. Claude in Chrome handles the research, and Cowork turns it into Excel files, PowerPoint slides, or reports. Anthropic lists a few use cases: pulling metrics from analytics dashboards, organizing Google Drive, or logging sales calls in Salesforce. Claude asks for confirmation before making purchases. Sessions are tied to your account, not your device. Anthropic still warns about hidden instructions on websites. Like all LLM interfaces, the extension remains a potential attack vector for prompt injections. The company advises against using it with banking or health data. The update is available now for all paid plans through the Chrome Web Store.AdAd AI News Without the Hype – Curated by Humans Subscribe to THE DECODER for ad-free reading, a weekly AI newsletter, our exclusive "AI Radar" frontier report six times a year, full archive access, and access to our comment section.
