There’s a horrifying new PHP vulnerability, to be patched today at 14:00 UTC, which allows remote exploits in current WordPress. [Ars Technica] When the patch is released, that reveals the vulnerability, and they expect exploits in the wild within 15 minutes. Everyone I know who I trust to understand this says yes, it’s that bad. So today I’m finally doing a pile of sysadmin work I should have done two months ago, to move to a box that isn’t three years past EOL, so I can have an upgradeable PHP! I’ve temporarily switched off all commenting. This also hides existing comments (they’re still there). If there isn’t a proper Pivot post today, that’ll be why. I’ll keep you updated. EDIT: And we’re back! Comments are back on. The site is slow as heck, so I’ll be adding an object cache this evening. No time to do a proper post/episode today though, sadly. See you tomorrow!
