Yesterday, President Donald Trump stood up in front of the United Nations General Assembly and announced: [YouTube] The United States also totally rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme to control for the artificial intelligence being spoken of so much now. Here and after officially called “super intelligence,” changing the name, and that the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake. It makes it sound fake, and it is not fake. It’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful. In fact, it is exactly the opposite of what it purports. From this point forward, all of the United States documents, and hopefully the world’s, will be changed to use the much more accurate term, super as opposed to artificial. So it’s super intelligence. In other words, welcome to the new world of super intelligence, dash, SI. All the other world leaders speaking after Trump still called it artificial intelligence. Trump didn’t just come up with super intelligence. No, he ran a Twitter poll first. The options were “superior intelligence,” “extreme intelligence” and “supreme intelligence.” So Trump just picked something else. [Truth Social; Twitter, archive] It’s a weird choice. The AI doomsday cultists already call the AI that wil kill us all “superintelligence”. Trump’s come out strongly against the AI doomsday crew, and the Effective Altruists are being denounced by the Trump administration by name. [Twitter, archive] There hasn’t been an executive order about super intelligence yet. It’s not clear what — if anything — follows from this inane decree. Why did Trump decree super intelligence? I don’t think there’s a grand plan. Guys who want everyone to know they’re the boss will sometimes just tell their minions to eat a bug, to see who does. Today’s bug eaters include US Chief Technology Officer Ethan Klein and US ambassador to the UN Michael Waltz. [BBC] So the test now is who thinks it’s good for their careers to start calling AI “super intelligence”. Which company will be first? The term “Artificial Intelligence” has always been marketing. It was created in 1955 to sell a conference and it was an immediate hit. I think the AI vendors are not going to casually throw away the huge marketing weight of “Artificial Intelligence.” But I could be wrong. If they’re desperate or craven enough.
